Guide
Set up a TikTok for Business account
The fastest-growing organic reach on the internet, if you set it up right.
Sign up with a business email
Use hello@yourbrand.com, not personal Gmail. TikTok links accounts to devices, so if you already scroll TikTok on your phone, install the app on a fresh phone or clear app data first.
Switch to a Business account
Profile, three dots (top right), Manage account, Switch to Business Account. Pick the most specific category. Business accounts unlock analytics and clickable bio links.
Pick a niche-specific username
@yourbrand or @yourbrand.city. Match the handle across Instagram and X so people can find you. Available handles are getting rare, act quickly.
Write a bio that says WHO and WHAT in 80 chars
Example: 'Small-batch candles from Austin, TX. Free ship over $50. Shop below.' Add one emoji if it fits. Add link (once you have 1000 followers, you unlock a clickable link).
Post your first 3 videos before promoting
TikTok punishes empty accounts. Record 3 short (15 to 30 sec), vertical, well-lit videos before you share your handle anywhere. Show product in action, a founder intro, a common mistake customers make.
Follow the '3-second rule'
The first 3 seconds of your video decide 80% of watch time. Open with movement, a question, or a bold visual. Never start with 'Hey guys!' or a logo intro.
That’s the whole thing.
