Guide

Add photos & posts that actually get clicks

Use the GMB photo, post, and product features to keep your listing feeling fresh.

  1. Upload the 'must-have five' first

Add these five photo types before anything else: 1) exterior/storefront, 2) interior, 3) hero product shot, 4) team member at work, 5) logo. Google actively surfaces businesses that have all five.

  2. Use real phone photos, not stock

Take photos with your phone in natural window light. Google's algorithm can detect and demote stock imagery. Authenticity beats polish here.

  3. Post a weekly Update

In the dashboard, click 'Add update'. Post news, promotions, or a small win once a week. Keep text under 300 characters, add one photo, and always include a button (Learn more, Call, Book).

  4. Post Offers when running promos

Use the 'Offer' post type for discounts and sales. These display prominently and include a redemption code field. They automatically expire, which is great for FOMO.

  5. Add Products (if you sell products)

The Products section lets you add photos, prices, and links directly on your profile. It's like a mini catalogue on Google. Even 6 products makes your listing feel established.

  6. Answer Q&A yourself

Anyone can ask AND answer questions on your listing, including trolls. Log in weekly, answer real questions, and pre-empt common ones by asking a friend to post 'Do you take walk-ins?' etc., then answering.

That’s the whole thing.
