Guide
Get paid faster with better payment terms
Structure how and when you ask for money so cash arrives sooner, not later.
Shorten your payment terms
Net 30 has become a default, but it's rarely required. Net 14 or even 'due on receipt' is completely reasonable for smaller invoices.
Ask for a deposit upfront
For larger projects, a deposit before work begins protects your cash flow and filters out clients who were never serious.
Offer a small discount for early payment
A modest discount for paying within a few days can pull cash forward meaningfully, especially from clients who are simply slow, not unwilling.
Make paying as frictionless as possible
Every extra step between receiving an invoice and paying it, like a manual bank transfer with typed-in details, adds delay. Card and one-click options tend to get paid fastest.
That’s the whole thing.
