  1. Set up Meta Business Suite

Go to business.facebook.com and create a Business Manager account. Link your Facebook Page and Instagram Business account inside it, this keeps ads separate from your personal profile.

  2. Add a payment method

Billing → Add payment method. Use a card with a low limit initially. Set a monthly spending limit inside Meta so you can't accidentally overspend.

  3. Install the Meta Pixel on your website

Events Manager → Connect data source → Web → Meta Pixel. Copy the code and paste it into your site's <head>. Most site builders (Shopify, Wix, Squarespace) have a built-in field for it.

  4. Choose the right objective

For most small businesses: 'Sales' if you have an online store, 'Leads' if you want form fills or calls, 'Traffic' if you just want website visitors.

  5. Define a tight audience

Location: your city + 20 miles. Age: your realistic customer range. 1–2 interests only. Don't 'target everyone', narrow beats broad on small budgets.

  6. Create ad creative

Use a real photo (not stock). Write 3 short variations of the copy. Add a clear button: 'Shop now', 'Book', 'Learn more'. Meta will A/B test them automatically.

  7. Set the budget & launch

Start at $5–10/day. Run for at least 3 days before judging results, the algorithm needs 24–48 hours to learn. Turn off ads that get zero clicks after $20 spent.

That’s the whole thing.
