Guide
Optimise a product page for Google
The template that turns product pages into search-traffic magnets.
Title tag: keyword + brand
Format: [Product Name] , [Descriptor] , [Brand]. Example: 'Handmade Sourdough Loaf , Rye & Sesame , Acme Bakery'. Under 60 characters. Descriptive, not clever.
Meta description: benefit + urgency
150 chars. Show the benefit and one specific detail: 'Small-batch sourdough, baked fresh Tuesdays and Fridays. Order pickup by 4pm in Austin.'
H1 = product name
Only ONE H1 per page. It's the product name. Sub-details go under H2s: 'Ingredients', 'Delivery', 'Reviews'.
Write 300+ words of unique copy
Not the manufacturer's boilerplate. Describe: what it is, who it's for, how it's made, what makes it different. Product pages with under 100 words of unique copy rarely rank.
Add real customer photos in the gallery
Google's algorithm favours user-generated content. If your product has a photo submitted by a customer (with permission), include it. Extra trust signal too.
Add Q&A section
Even 3 to 5 questions with answers help. 'Is this vegan?' 'How long does it last?' 'Do you ship?' Q&A gets pulled into Google featured snippets, huge extra visibility.
Cross-link to related products
'Customers also loved: [link] [link] [link]'. Internal links pass ranking power. Products that link to each other rank higher as a group.
That’s the whole thing.
