  1. Get listed in niche directories

Not generic '500 free directories'. Find 3 to 5 that matter in your niche: local chamber of commerce, industry association, respected review site. Each is worth 100 spammy links.

  2. Guest post on ONE bigger blog

Find a blog serving your audience (bigger, not gigantic). Pitch a specific, useful article with a working title. Include one link back to your site inside the article body, not just the author bio.

  3. Use HARO (Help a Reporter Out)

Sign up at helpareporter.com. Reporters post source requests daily. Answer 5 per week with 3-sentence expert quotes. When picked, you get a link from a real news site.

  4. Reclaim unlinked brand mentions

Google 'your brand name' in quotes. Any mention without a hyperlink to your site = a link opportunity. Email the site: 'Thanks for mentioning us, could you link to us here?' Success rate: 30 to 40%.

  5. Create one 'linkable asset' per year

A tool, calculator, industry survey, or ultimate guide. Something so useful that other people link to it naturally. Free 'small business marketing checklist PDF' beats a hundred sales pages.

  6. Never buy links or use PBNs

Private Blog Networks and paid links from Fiverr are the fastest way to a Google penalty. If a service promises '100 backlinks for $50', run. Recovery from a penalty takes 6+ months.

That’s the whole thing.
